"Hi, my name is Mark Delgado with American Auto Service for Expert Village. You'll have high pressure in the high side when you have restrictions also. That may mean that in the orifice tube, if the compressor is starting to put debris into the system, it will clog up that orifice tube or will clog up the expansion valve causing a restriction and poor performance as well. There again, you will look at your pressure readings to kind of give you a clue as to what is going on. Some vehicles will have a receiver dryer but not all vehicles have them. Some vehicles have what is called an accumulator. An accumulator is after the evaporator and what it does is remove moisture and it also will makes sure that as the refrigerant leaves the evaporator, it will ensure that it is vapor or a gas when it returns to the compressor because if it is liquid refrigerant when it returns to the compressor, it will damage it."
