" Hi welcome back to expertvillage.com. You could see here this is the clean fan right over here. I have just finished brushing it and blowing some compress air in it. Okay next thing that we are going to do is the heat sink, or the CPU right over here which you could see that it is all full of dust. Now take note, some computers they have a small fan and heat sink and it is up to you if want to take it out or not. In this case, I'm going to do it because I got a special custom build heat sink and fan combination, which I need to clean. So first out, you are going to blow all that dust out first. Let's just loosen some here with the toothbrush right over here. Okay, here we go. It is a lot of dust see this is how thick the dust inside the computer could get if you don't clean it. Now take note it would be good to wear a mask but in this case I don't have one but you could wear a mask because it could get really dusty. Okay just brush in between the fans of the heat sink. Just loosen up all the dirt. Here we go. We are just going to finish off the heat sink over here with a can of compress air. Just hold it upright, just blow in between the fans, blow out all the loose dust. There you have it."

on 11/23/2008 Toothbrush is simple and cheap, however I would use a small vacuum if possible. Preferably a vacuum with a decent air filter. Again I would do all of this outside to not spread dust particles everywhere throughout the house.
