Series Summary

A computer is a big financial investment that consumers continue to indulge in as the need for personal computing systems at both home and work continues to be a necessity. Despite the knowledge that computer systems become out-dated and inadequate to our needs over time, computer owners strive to keep their systems healthy both inside and out. Most users know that running virus scans and disc clean-up functions is mandatory to a computer's internal software health, some do not know that internal hardware maintenance and external cleaning are necessary as well. Perhaps some PC owners don't realize how simple it is to open the computer and do their own cleaning jobs, and are intimidated by the thought of disassembling their machine, or perhaps they are unaware of the need to perform such maintenance. In either case, simple and regular cleaning of a computer's parts in crucial for the machine's longevity.

In this free instructional video clip series, our expert will show you how to clean the simple and accessible outside parts of the machine, including the monitor and keyboard. You will also watch as the PC is taken apart, opened up and cleaned from the inside out. Find the CPU fan, the case fan, and the hard drive, and learn how to keep dust and other debris from gathering and negatively affecting your computer's performance. See tips for using antistatic wrist straps while cleaning, power supply clean-up methods and heat sink cleaning techniques as well. Finally, learn how to put the machine back together, just like new, after doing your maintenance. Never pay a professional to clean your computer again!

" Hi my name is Paolo and welcome to expertvillage.com. Today we are going to talk about how to clean and maintain your PC. That includes also your monitors, your keyboards and other printers, scanners and other devices that are connected to your PC. Now before I begin let me tell you a little bit of something about my self. I have been working as a PC technician for 5 years. I'm a certified CompTIA A+ technician. What I do I repair, upgrade and install PCs. Now, let me stress the importance of maintaining your PC and keeping it clean. Just like a automobile, you want to do oil changes just to keep the car in tip top condition; same thing with a PC. You want to maintain it and keep it clean especially in the inside because you want to avoid two things. One is over heating and two electrode discharge. Like static electricity. So for this topic we are going to need a couple of cleaning stuff right here. I have here several cans of compress air for blowing dust. I got some cotton swabs over here. I got a soft bristle brush it is an old toothbrush but the bristles are kind of soft already. You don't want to use a brush that has a hard bristles. You could also use this one over here is lent free cloth like the ones that they use for cleaning eyeglasses and sunglasses. I have here a anti static lift strap because it is important when you clean your PC you don't want to cause electrode discharge while you are cleaning the PC otherwise you are going to fry the components. Right over here I also have a tool set for the PC and a couple of small screwdrivers, pliers, and stuff like that. The important thing about PC tool set is it should be demagnetize. Right over here I got commercial cleaning solutions. This one right here is a spray version it is a anti static spray for cleaning electronics and stuff. Over here is the same thing too it is anti-static cleaning solution but instead of spray it is moist towelettes. Now first thing first when you clean the PC make sure that you have all the materials ready and you could also use for keyboards for cleaning the exterior you could other use water soap solution, mild soap like dish detergent, or you could also use water and vinegar solution but the vinegar has to be just plain white vinegar not fancy vinegar."
