Next, we’re going to plug the drives into the motherboard using IDE ribbon cables. This redline indicates pin 1. On the motherboard, where it’s marked IDE-1 it could also be IDE-0. There it is marked pin 1. So we will plug the ribbon cable directly in, make sure that you pushed down firmly that’s tight and secure. Now, we are going to plug the IDE ribbon into the CD-ROM drive. Again, it’s marked pin 1 and it’s really hard to see because we didn’t check it before, but a good rule of thumb is at the redline points towards the power plug."
