"Hi, this is Linda Lewis on behalf of Expert Village.com. Check out my website at www.keytime.com. What are goals for keyboarding? There are several goals depending on what your interest is. 40 words a minute is required for being able to get a job. A personal goal would be if you are not having to take a typing test, would be typing as fast as you hand write because that is what you are comfortable with when you are writing and if you are able to type a minimum of 30 to 35 words a minute, that would be a personal goal. This is not very fast but it is a reading level that people are interested in to be able to feel comfortable with the keyboarding. Someone who is a strong typists who types around 60 words per minute and then if somebody who is a fast typists it is usually about 80 words per minute. Someone who is going to be recording and typing for other people that they are having to do good productivity, usually type a 100 plus words. That would be like an administrative assistant and someone who is paid to do data entry usually types a 120 words up to 150 words per minute. The record speeds for keyboarding on the Qwerty Keyboard which is the standard keyboard that people are familiar with, a 180 words is the record speed for keyboarding. A faster keyboard that has a better arrangement of the keyboard layout is the Dvorak Keyboard and the records speed on that one is 225 words per minute. In another clip, I will explain more to you about the DVORAK Keyboard. "

on 7/6/2009 both of the video are good for each catergory when it comes to new people that are tyiping. As for me I know how to type but when I am on a timer I seem to mess up. I can do 40wmp when I don't get on a timer and I don't go back when I make a mistake. I just want to get things really good so I can get my goals where I need to be.

on 1/19/2009 This video helped me to realize that if you set a goal for yourself that you will most likely to reach the goal than if you would just tring to type. If you set a goal lets say for 40 wpm, you will try to accomplish that goal because you are going to keep typing until you reack that goal.
