"I’m Dr. Greg McDonald and I just want to summarize all things we talked about today. We are here to talk for Expert Village.com about flea control and again if you have more questions you can go to my website, it’s www.petpointers.com and you can ask questions on that site and you can also buy some products on that site as well. So feel free to go to that site and look around and if you have any other questions, you can send them to me. I’m Dr. Greg McDonald and I have a practice McDonald Animal Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. Today we talked about the importance of fleas and ticks and why it is important to control them. We talked all about the different products you use to control fleas and ticks. Fleas and ticks can cause diseases in your pet and they also can wind up causing some diseases in humans too so it is very important to control them. We have new products and the new products are very safe and work well. Some of the older products that I am not too fond of people used to want to give shampoos and used insecticides in the shampoos in order to control the fleas and ticks and the trouble with that is it would kill all the adults but it doesn’t do anything for going back home and picking up more fleas and ticks where these new products actually carry their protection with them all day. Again, I’m not very fond of the flea collars for dogs and cats because fleas will go over the whole animal and the collar is just up in this area here so they don’t really work very well for the fleas. We think that with the newer products we are very lucky now to have them because they do take really good care of our pets. There is no reason at all anymore for your dog or cat to have any fleas or ticks."
