Sentinel Flea Control Tips

"Hi, I’m Dr. Greg McDonald and today we are talking for Expert Village.com. We are taking about flea controlling in your pet. My favorite flea control for dogs is one that does a lot of different things and it is called Sentinel. Sentinel is a really great product because it controls fleas, controls the heart worm in your dog and it also controls most of the intestinal parasites. Because it is overall protection for your parasite in your dog, I think all dogs should have this product on board. Heart worms are one of those products that are transmitted by mosquitoes that can get into the dog’s blood stream and cause worms in the heart. These worms in the heart can actually cause congestive heart failure. Today we are really just zeroing in on the flea aspects of this product. It is a once a month tablet that you give your dog. It is chewable and the dog likes it so you can just mark it on your calendar, give it once a month and from that point forward, every flea that bites your dog will have sterile eggs. So I like to call it birth control for fleas because then you are not going to get a lot of eggs in your environment. Every dog that is on this will keep all of the fleas from becoming a problem in your house. It doesn’t prevent fleas from jumping on your dog like some of the other products so if you see a flea on your dog it doesn’t mean that this product is not working it simply means that you may need to add other products at certain times of year to your dog."
