"Hi! I’m Tine Buechler from Business Growth Training and I am here today on behalf of Expert Village.com. In this clip I want to talk about the methods and steps of implementing a job search. At this point, you should have your job search tools completed. You should have your resume, cover letter, references list, any of your other supplementary job search tools prepared and ready to go. You should have developed your promo and now you are at the point that you are going to implement your job search. If you do this in a very simple organized and methodical way, then you are absolutely certain that you are going to find a job within your field. First of all step 1 that we are going to do is create a list of 25 to 50 targeted employers who might use your skills. Twenty-five to 50 targeted employers’ means employers that hire people that match your job goal. Earlier, we had determined what your is your job goal. When you create your list, you need to look at employers who hire that kind of position. Not that are hiring right now but that hire the kind of position you are looking for. Step 2, you are going to find out who makes the hiring decisions for the position that you are looking for and you are going to call until you speak to that person. Many companies are hiring but don’t ever advertise. How are they ever going to find out about you unless you let them know? So you are going to call in a very friendly way and provide information that you are looking for work and the kind of work you are looking for and then you are going to ask if you can give them a copy of your resume. So the third step is: you are going to communicate clearly to that person who does the hiring your skills, your accomplishments and your key characteristics. This is your 30 second promo game. Your name, your background and the kind of work you are looking for. You are going to ask if you can forward a resume to this person. Once you have forwarded your resume, you are going to do the next step which is a follow-up step. After you have sent your resume to this company, it doesn’t matter which method you have done, you are going to do a follow-up to ensure that the person that you wanted to receive the resume indeed did receive the resume and the second thing you are going to follow-up for is if the person who received the resume has any questions you want to be able to answer those questions at that point. The last step is to create a new list and go again. If you only apply to companies that have the kind of job that you are looking for, then you can only get a job that matches your job goal. So it is quite easy. Create a list of prospective employers, find out who does the hiring, forward your material to that individual and then follow-up to ensure the person has received the information and then go again. We know all sorts of employers are hiring. This is your way of making certain that they know about you and that you are a possible person they could hire."
