Hi! This is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com. In this video series we are talking about puppy care. So in this short clip, we are going to be talking about separating your dog from areas that you do not want them to go. You can do this, we have talked about crate. You can keep the dog confined in a crate but if there are parts of the house that you do not want your puppy to have access to, let us say they are not housebroken yet, then one way of doing that is to separate certain parts of your house with baby gates. I am going to show you an example of this; how you can set it up in a way that you could for example, keep your dog out the second floor or out of the particular room. So let us take a look upstairs and you can see we have a got a baby gate set up in the hallway. This is a great system and it is very easy to use. You can have the door closed; it is tall enough. You can see it is fairly tall and even a large breed puppy is not going to be able to jump over this. In fact this gate, this particular gate has a great feature. If you have cats, this might be important for you. If you look down here there is a separate section that comes out that will allow your cat access in and out of an area that you might want to keep your puppy out of. We’ve got the pressure mounted here on the wall and if you keep it closed to open it, quite simply, you pick up the handle and you walk out. This is a great tool to use to keep your puppy in places that you want to keep them in, out of places you want to keep them out. They make them in a lot of different styles; this happens to be a white metal one. You can get them in wood, you can get them in a range of sizes, some people have doorways or openings to a living room for example, which is extra-wide and they make gates that have extenders on them. So you want to take a look at what you can find and find a style that is going to agree with your house, but it is a great way of confining the puppy from certain areas.
