Hi! My name is Tina Buechler from Business Growth Training, and I’m here today on behalf of In this clip, I want to talk about actually constructing your resume. Starting with top of the first page, name and identification. This you actually need to do some thinking about. You need to determine if you’re putting your full name of if you’re shortening your name. For example, if your name is Robert. Are you going to put Rob or are you going to put Robert? What if you were called by your second name rather than your first name. Are you going to put that initial? All of these things need to be thought about. Remember in your job goal, and you need to determine how you’re going identify your name and how that is going to market you to your goal. Second thing you need to figure out is your mailing address. You do need to have that information available so an employer can send to you any information. You need a telephone number and perhaps a number where you can be reached. If it’s a number from your home, you need to think about how that home phone is being answered. I remember when I was looking for work and I had my children at home, they would race to answer the phone and then they would fight over who would answer. So, when you list the number that you’re going to contacted at, make sure that it’s a number that would be answered professionally, so that when an employer gets a hold of you and call you they don’t get fighting children trying to get access to the phone. The other thing is your email address. You need to have a very professional email address. I received a resume once that said fuzzybunny@hotmail or something like that. I mean really, when I’m looking to hire somebody professional, fuzzy bunny just does not do it. So, make certain that your email address is a very professional email address. Any additional information, if you choose, you may put your cell phone number on, but that’s optional. What you do need is name, complete mailing address, and a telephone number to contact. Email is optional, and a cell phone is optional. This needs to be placed clearly at the top the first page and it needs to be duplicated on the second page as well.
