"Hi, I'm Kristi with WorkBlast.com and I'm here to answer some frequently asked questions about how to create a video resume. Many people ask, if discrimination will be an issue. This is a question that the media has put a lot of energy into exploring. Opinions on this issue are sensitive and very widely based on your perception. There's an obvious point here that I must state. Video is a visual medium, the employers and hiring managers will see you. Given that video is visual here are the facts. Your race, sex, and age will no longer be hidden. The fact than employer sees you can work greatly to your advantage if you present your message in a professional and unique way. It will show you as a person and not just a name on a piece of paper. Think about our traditional text resume and the information that it contains. If you see a resume from Jennifer Pool, who graduated from NYU in 2004, with a bachelor's degree in management, what do you know about this person? You know their name is Jennifer and they're probably a female and you know that they're between the ages of 21 and 26 years old, depending on how long it took to graduate. The only thing you don't know from text, that you would see in a video, is Jennifer's race. What a video resume does is takes the journey of searching, screening, and interviewing and condenses it. This process has many great advantages including more relevant interviews for job seekers, time and money saved by the employer, and an opportunity for exceptional candidates to rise to the top of an employer's wish list. Remember, in order to get a job, you'll have to meet face to face with someone from the organization at some point. You run little risk by creating a video resume, while you run the risk of being lost in the paper shuffle without one. Employers want to hire the best person for the position regardless of age, race and sex. If you're concerned that being seen will hurt your chances of landing an interview, WorkBlast offers an alternative solution. WorkBlast has developed a way to get the benefits of a video resume through an audio resume simply record and audio clip to capture your unique message and accompany your text resume, you'll still stand out."
