Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

In Part Six of the Canine Good Citizen test your dog needs to demonstrate some basic obedience commands. Your dog has to do a sit and down on command.

  2. Step 2

During the test you are not allowed to use treats or toys. Your dog has to do the commands by voice command or hand signal.

  3. Step 3

The easiest way to teach the sit and down command is with the lure and reward method.

  4. Step 4

Use a treat to guide your dog into a sit position and the down position. Keep repeating until your dog can do the command just by following your hand.

  5. Step 5

When your dog can do both commands without the use of treats or toy, you and your dog are ready for this part of the test.
