How to Treat a Sore Throat with Thyme Tea

Video Preview

Summary: When I start to feel that little tickle in my throat that warns me of a sore throat coming on, I know it's time for Thyme Tea. This is a natural easy-to-make herbal tea that will soothe sore throats and it is an effective bronchial antispasmodic and expectorant. A powerful healing herb which has known antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral and even anti-aging properties. Thyme (Thymus vulgaris) is part of the mint family and part of my indoor herb garden. Also found in mouthwashes like Listerine as thymol, which is oil of thyme.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Rinse a couple of twigs of fresh thyme from your garden or use 1 teaspoon of the dried herb.

  2. Step 2

I like to use a bamboo strainer to hold the herb.

  3. Step 3

Pour one cup of boiling water over the herb and steep 5 to 10 minutes.

  4. Step 4

I like to sweeten with Agave Nectar (less calories, less carbs) but honey is fine.
