Step 1
Layers
Start with long underwear that allows your skin to breath and take moisture away from it. Do not use cotton as your first layer because it retains moisture. Go to Dick's Sporting Goods Store or other sporting goods stores to find your "second skin." I've found the next few layers should be of fleece type material. Keep the layers somewhat loose and not tight fitting. Dress in at least 4 - 6 layers. -
Step 2
Wind Breaker
The wind can blow in Lambeau so you will need some type of wind breaker material. I favor a stadium jacket or parka with a wind breaker material. A must to make your experience in zero degree temperature enjoyable are snow pants. These will block the wind and keep your legs warm. -
Step 3
Insulated Boots
I made the mistake of not having insulated boots and my feet froze. Take the plunge and buy insulated boots. Make the boots warmer by getting heaters that activate when air touches them or electric socks. I did just fine with two insulated socks and heaters activated when air touched them. You also could use some styro-foam to serve as a barrier from the concrete floor and your boots. Just put a strip down and rest your feet on that instead of the floor...great tip I got from a Lambeau regular! -
Step 4
Warm Hands
Wear mittens! Repeat, wear mittens! Get the type that have wind breaker material on the outside. Sandwich your hands with air activated heaters. This will keep your hands warm in sub zero weather. Just look at what Brett Favre does between passes...he sticks his hands in his pouch which is full of warmers. -
Step 5
Head
You must wear a hat. Yes, you'll get hat head after the game but you will be much warmer. If your jacket has a hood, wear that too. Another key is a scarf over your face. Just one scarf can keep you warm in sub zero weather. -
Step 6
Warm Drink
The guys next to me drank beer. With zero degree temperatures, they drank beer. I suggest warm drinks. However, the hot chocolate that the stadium vendors peddled in the stands actually turned cold. So you may need to get out of your seat and go to the concession stand. Weigh the need for a hot drink and leaving your nice warm seat. -
Step 7
Warm Seat
Use the stadium seats you can rent from Lambeau or bring in a hot seat stadium cushion. You need to have a barrier between you and your bottom because that aluminum seat transmits coldness. Using a wool blanket is also recommended to sit on and to wrap your legs around it. -
Step 8
Need Warmth
Go to the Atrium and get warm in one of the restaurants.
