In this article, you'll learn how to properly fix caulk cracks that occur in your bathroom tub deck. To fix cracks that occur in your tub, you will need to use silicone caulk, as opposed to latex caulk. Silicone caulk is usually clear or white and can be used for repairs that require no painting. Latex caulk, on the other hand, is a durable caulk that can be painted over to match your decor.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • white silicone caulk
  • caulk gun
  • damp rag
Step1
If you have a new tube of caulk, you will need to cut a small hole (on an angle) in the funnel of your caulk tube. Insert a nail into the funnel to break the seal.
Step2
Apply a thin layer of caulk to the entire lining of your tub deck. Even if the crack is small, it is best to apply caulk to the entire deck, as shown in the video.
Step3
Use your finger to smooth out the caulk. The damp rag can be used to wipe off the end of the caulk tube as well as your finger.
