Introduction

How to Commit to Maintaining Your Personal Spending Record. A spending record is a daily, weekly, and monthly log of all of your personal spending and expenses. It is a tool that will assist you in keeping an eye on your financial situation. It is also one of the most important tools used for eliminating your debt. Before you can begin to eliminate your debt, or change any of your previously problematic spending, you must have a clear understanding of exactly where all of your money is going. Most problematic debtors cannot explain how much money they have spent in the last month, or on what their money was spent. Any attempt to fix the problem will end in failure if you are not sure exactly what the problem is. So, the first step is in the understanding of the problem. This can only be accomplished through the clarity and understanding of your spending that will result from tracking all of it.

Step1
The first step is understand you have a problem with your finances. This could mean directing your attention to where the majority of your finances are going. Ask yourself these questions:

What other bills do I have other than major bills (Household)?
How much money is spent on luxury items, social events (movies, parties)?
What things are necessary and unnecessary? How can I cut out impulse shopping?

These are all great questions and the first steps in understanding your personal spending plan
Step2
After answering the questions and understanding how your money is being spent, commit to a personal spending plan that allows you to save money and grants you the freedom to enjoy life without going into debt.
Step3
Make your personal spending plan your daily focus. Be proud of your new ways of spending/saving habits. Making a commitment will ensure progress toward a debt free lifestyle
