Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get in proper position. Your feet should be just outside the lane and next to the block. You should be in a strong position with your feet just beyond shoulder width and your knees bent. This strong position will help you maintain your space when the defender is pushing on you.

  2. Step 2

Determine what side of your body that the defender is favoring. This is important to understand as it will determine where the pass should be thrown and which way you will pivot to take the shot.

  3. Step 3

Put a hand out as a target for your teammate to throw you a bounce pass.

  4. Step 4

Call for the ball. This is a signal to your teammate that you are in a ready position to make a good post move.

  5. Step 5

Catch the bounce pass and secure it under your chin with your elbows out.

  6. Step 6

Make a head and shoulder fake towards the defender to get them moving away from where you will be pivoting.

  7. Step 7

Pivot the opposite direction that you faked. Square up as if to take a shot.

  8. Step 8

    Fake a shot.

  9. Step 9

Wait for the defender to jump or get off balance from your fake.

  10. Step 10

Get low enough to get under the chest of the defender and do a power dribble towards the basket.

  11. Step 11

    Do a two-foot takeoff lay-up.
