You would need your IP address at times to accomplish certain activities on the Internet, be it the setting up of your firewall or simply for another computer to gain access. Here's how you get this information.

Tips & Warnings:

  • Do not be alarmed by the information that your computer spits out. Narrow in on the field that says 'IP Address'.
  • Enter everything as specified above. Be careful since entering the wrong information might result in another command being executed instead.

Step1
Make sure your computer is up and running. Click on 'Start' and then Run.
Step2
Type in the following in the field:

cmd

Press 'Enter'.
Step3
You will see a large black box. In this box, type in the following:

ipconfig /all

Press 'Enter'.
Step4
You will be presented with the IP information of your computer. The field that says 'IP Address' will be the information that you most probably need.
Step5
If you need to renew the IP address of your computer, simply enter the following instead:

ipaddress /renew
