The purl stitch is the opposite of the knit stitch, and it is a little trickier to accomplish. This video shows you how to purl when using the Continental method of knitting.
Practicing with a larger needle and medium to thick yarn will make it easier.
Don't give up. You can do this. Really.
Knitting can be addictive!
Step1
yarn wrapped around hand, palm up
Cast on about 12 stitches to practice on. If you need help casting on, I have other videos that demonstrate several methods of casting on.
Step2
yarn wrapped around hand
Wrap the yarn around your left hand pinkie, and then over your ring finger, under your middle finger, and finally, over the top of your index finger. Grasp the needle with the stitches on it with your left hand.
Step3
Take up your empty needle with your right hand and knit about four rows.
Step4
Watch the video and try purling along with the demonstration. Repeat as many times as necessary, to master this technique.

Hi, thanks for your comments.
I crocheted for years before I got into knitting. It was really hard at first, but I persisted and now I love it! I think the continental method is easier for crocheters to do because the yarn is carried in the left hand. Hang in there it will get easier.

Hi I have watched several of your videos on knittincg. I want to get into knitting. I have tried it but I'm very slow at it. You are very fast at it. I crochet mostly. I make bed dolls and purses. I also want to get into plastic canvas. Keep up the good work
