Step 1
yarn wrapped around hand, palm upCast on about 12 stitches to practice on. If you need help casting on, I have other videos that demonstrate several methods of casting on.
-
Step 2
yarn wrapped around handWrap the yarn around your left hand pinkie, and then over your ring finger, under your middle finger, and finally, over the top of your index finger. Grasp the needle with the stitches on it with your left hand.
-
Step 3
Take up your empty needle with your right hand and knit about four rows.
-
Step 4
Watch the video and try purling along with the demonstration. Repeat as many times as necessary, to master this technique.

on 11/19/2008 Very clear instructions! I will refer this to a friend who is trying to learn how to knit. I prefer crochet myself.

on 1/5/2008 Hi, thanks for your comments.
I crocheted for years before I got into knitting. It was really hard at first, but I persisted and now I love it! I think the continental method is easier for crocheters to do because the yarn is carried in the left hand. Hang in there it will get easier.

on 1/4/2008 Hi I have watched several of your videos on knittincg. I want to get into knitting. I have tried it but I'm very slow at it. You are very fast at it. I crochet mostly. I make bed dolls and purses. I also want to get into plastic canvas. Keep up the good work
