Tips & Warnings:

  • Think about it, if you improve a weakness 1%, how much impact do you generate? Now, improve a strength 1%, your impact should be greater and with less effort. It takes so much more energy to raise a weak area vice a strength and how much impact do you really expect to get with raising the weak area 1%???
  • Although Orange is your dominate personality, you have aspects of the other personalities to make up your personality blend. Take the True Colors personality test to find your personality blend listed in the resources area.
  • Read the article on introvert and extrovert because how you gather energy is important to how you express your personality.

Step1
Oranges take a chance What do you value?
- Freedom
- Spontaneity
- Generosity
- Risk
- Fun
As you set your resolutions, how can you make them fun? Turn your intentions into a game and reward yourself each time you make a positive step in the direction of your goal.
Step2
What gives you joy?
- Music, art, theater, and crafts
- Sports
- Making an impact
- Lack of rules
- Competition
One way to make your resolutions fun for Oranges, is to make it a competition. Compete against others (Oranges love this) for some type of immediate reward, and you are more likely to keep the resolution.
Step3
What gives you stress?
- Structure
- Rules/procedures
- Lack of freedom
- Routine
- Planning
Keep the value of spontaneity alive and well. Create situations where you can use that intense energy many Oranges exhibit and channel it towards your goal. Don't get wrapped up in the details, but aim for making an impact. Even better, pick 1 - 3 things you do well and most likely like, and try improving them. By doing so, you will have even more impact. For something you don't do well, make it a game or competition to improve it. Or, out source the issue, trait or skill by hiring someone to do it for you. For example, go to elance.com if you need to find a virtual assistant, need a free lance writer, or other help in your private life or career.
Step4
Strengths
- Negotiations
- Performance
- Practical problem solving
- Multi-tasking
- Direct
Just like in step 3 above, find a strength and improve it. You will have more energy, excitement, and enjoyment to improve what you do well. In fact, since you do it well already, you will have more impact in your life and career by fulfilling a resolution from one of your strengths.
