How to make the BEST Black Beans

Introduction

Black Beans are great for your body. They are also great tasting, one of my favorite beans-if you know how to make em' right. With just a few ingredients, and lots of love, you'll have a great pot of black beans that go with just about anything!

Tips & Warnings:

  • Add your own spices! Anything you fancy. The trick of course, is making sure the flavors click!
  • Don't add Salt until the very end of the Two Hours! Salt will harden the beans otherwise...
Step1
Soak package of Black Beans overnight in a bowl of room temp. water.
Step2
NEXT DAY: Dice Veggies up. In a large pot, Sauté Onion first with a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Throw in Bell Pepper- Add Garlic last.
Step3
Stir, Stir, Stir! Stir, Stir, Stir! Drain Beans and throw into pot. Stir!
Step4
Fill pot nearly half full of water. Add Chicken broth (or any other broth of your choice) to fill pot to half full.
Step5
Spices Spices Add your Spices! Cayenne Pepper, Garlic Powder and Bay Leaves.
Step6
Bring to a boil. Skim excess bubbles off the top, and cover. Turn heat to low and Simmer for TWO hours, until beans are tender.
