Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Purchase sugar cubes.

  2. Step 2

Place 1 to 3 sugar cubes in the open package of cheese. The number of cubes depends on how much cheese you are storing. If you purchased a family size, or have cheese for a party, use more than one cube.

  3. Step 3

Wrap the cheese tightly in whatever packaging is easiest. You can use the original packing, a sealed storage bag, plastic wrap, or anything else handy.

  4. Step 4

Put the cheese in the refrigerator.

  5. Step 5

Use the cheese when you are ready!

on 7/4/2007 More ways to prevent cheese mold from Tillamookcheese.com:

1. Cheese should be kept in its original package, covered tightly after opening and placed in the coldest section of the refrigerator (under 40° F) to prevent drying out or becoming moldy.

2. When cutting, pull the wrapper back and cut off the desired amount of cheese. Then fold the original wrapper back over the end of the cheese; press some foil tightly over the end; place in an airtight, sealed plastic bag and refrigerate. This should help slow the rate at which the cheese will mold.

3. Another method of storage involves dipping the cut surface of cheese in melted paraffin for a few seconds.

4. To help prevent mold on sliced or shredded cheese, avoid touching the cheese or putting your hand directly into the bag. Instead, remove the cheese with a clean utensil. Pour shredded cheese from the bag.
