  • Your dog will learn that when they move you close the door
  • Repeat a few times and your dog will learn to wait
Step1
Put your dog on leash and bring her to the door. Have your dog on the leash in case your dog gets out the door while your teaching your dog to wait at the door.
Step2
Most dogs that bolt out the door get very excited and when you approach the door. Have your dog sit in front of the door. As you reach for the door your dog will probably get up and move towards the door. take your hand away and ask your dog to sit.
Step3
When you can put your hand on the door without your dog getting up, open the door just a few inches. If your dog gets up, quickly close the door. Do it again. Open the door just a few inches, if your dog gets up, quickly close the door.
Step4
Your dog will quickly learn that every time they move you close the door. Within a few minutes you'll be able to open the door without your dog trying to dash out it.
