How to do Ollies & Grinds

Video Preview

Introduction

In order to skateboard, many must learn how to Ollie. To Ollie, you first must push your skateboard at a comfortable speed, but knowing that the faster you go, the better the pop. Then you must place your front foot near the middle of your board, about two inches under your bolts that way you can put your back foot on the tail. Squat, so you can spring yourself up, kicking your back foot down so you can pop as you jump up; your front foot should rub upward on your griptape. Make sure you tuck your knees to your chest, picking up your back foot as well to level the board at a good height. You must take close notice that you are jumping forward. As you come down comfortably, both feet on the board, it will look better if both your feet are over the bolts as well as it lessens the stress of impact. Finally bend your legs as you touch down to give it that smooth style and roll away stocked.

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
In a 50-50, you need to push the board at a high rate of speed. You also have to find a ledge or rail to 50-50.
Step2
As you go fast and approach the object; some people have the option to come at a 45 degree angle and some come directly at it in line with the direction, where they will 50-50. Keep your eye on the spot where you want to lock onto the object. Ollie and lock your trucks onto the object, then stand up straight and keep your balance. Spot your landing and stick it, then ride away in sheer glory of achieving it the 50-50.
Step3
The next move in ollieing is the 5-0. In the 5-0, you approach the object with a good amount of speed. Try to come at the object parallel or with a slight angle. As you Ollie, put your weight on your back foot and get into the grind with your weight on your back foot, but putting your body forward. You don’t want to lean back and slip out from under your board.
Step4
Shift your weight back forward and even off the board as you come to the end of the object. Try to land bolts, absorb the impact, and ride away.
