How to Fix a Scratched CD or DVD

Summary: If you have an orbital buffer along with some pads and polish for polishing your car, you can use it to fix minor scratches in CDs or DVDs that prevent them from playing properly.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Mount the pad on the orbital buffer.

  2. Step 2

    Apply a small amount of polish to the pad.

  3. Step 3

    smear some polish on the CD/DVD.

  4. Step 4

    Hold the CD/DVD down on a flat, smooth surface with the label side facing down.

  5. Step 5

    Apply the pad to the CD/DVD surface and turn the PC on.

  6. Step 6

    Run the PC until the polish breaks down.

  7. Step 7

    Wipe off the polish residue with a soft cloth.

on 8/13/2008 The best advice that i've seen is, this new company called Scratchmasters. They fix scratched CD & Video games for $5.00 Free S&H Worldwide..They fix my Halo 3 disc when it had a ring around it. I know they could fix yours. go to www.scratchmaster.net

on 6/23/2008 a good solution. i like it better then the pledge or yikes, the banana one. I use a product called disk armor. you put it on the disk and if the disk gets scrated, its disk armor which get scratched, take it off and put on another one, costs about a buck. www.disk-armor.com
