-
Step 1
Shut down the computer.
-
Step 2
Plug the speaker power supply into the speaker that has a power supply input.
-
Step 3
Plug the other speaker into the one containing the power supply. The cable may be hardwired into the second speaker, or you may have to connect a cable to both speakers.
-
Step 4
Connect the power supply speaker to the sound card on the back of your computer. Look for the mini jack standard on all Macintosh computers and most PCs. You'll often see a speaker or headphone icon by the jack, or it might be labeled Sound Out or Audio Out.
-
Step 5
Plug the power supply into your surge suppressor.
-
Step 6
Position the speakers.
-
Step 7
Turn on the speakers.
-
Step 8
Restart the computer.
-
Step 9
Play a music CD to test the speakers.

on 11/22/2005 How to Install a Personal Computer.
1. Make a good space on a work surface for your desktop computer system.
2. Check the power (you will need at least 2 grounded sockets) and other house connections (phone line or cable line nearby, for example).
3. Sort your PC components and cables. If there are disks, sort those aside.
4. Place your pc box, and accessories: monitor, keyboard, and mouse in position on your work surface.
5. Identify the sockets and card slots on the back of your desktop computer. Each component can be plugged into each socket. Most sockets are identified for their use, for example:
A: printer displays printer graphic
B: modem displays modem graphic
C: mouse displays mouse graphic or green socket
D: keyboard displays keyboard graphic or keyboard sockets
E: monitor displays monitor graphic
F: power displays a power graphic
6. Attach the cables to the accessories. Some cables are attached. The monitor cable, for example, is usually attached. Never force any cable connector into any socket. Be gentle and steady.
7. Lay your accessory cables in position with the components.
8. Attach the accessory cable connectors to the sockets in the back of the computer.
9. Finally plug the power cord(s) into the surge protector.
10. Plug the surge protector into the power source. Turn on its power switch.
11. Press the PC power button, on the back or front of the computer (identified with a power 1/0 graphic).
12. Press the monitor power button, on the back or front of the computer (also clearly identified).
13. Watch the screen graphics as the PC starts up.
14. Use the computer when the desktop hourglass icon stops spinning.

on 11/22/2005 Those who cannot find the power supply plug on the back of their speakers may not even have one! Many freebie or cheap speakers use batteries, and though sound can still flow through these while unpowered, the best experience requires batteries inside.
