How to Apply Eye Shadow

Video Preview

Introduction

When it comes to bringing out your facial features, makeup is the most common way to go unless you want to go under the knife. For eye makeup, the eyeshadow is a key factor. Sweep a touch of shadow over your lids to accent eyes. You can define them, add drama and make them stand out in a few quick steps.

Instructions

Text Size: +
Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Application on Entire Lid

Step1
Prime the eyelids by dusting them with a small amount of loose powder.
Step2
Select a light base shadow. Using a shadow brush, sweep it across your entire lid, from brow to lash line.
Step3
Use a medium-toned shade to cover your lower lids.
Step4
Contour the crease of your eyelid with a dark shade, using a smaller eye shadow brush. This color can also work as an eyeliner (see the next section for instructions).
Step5
Blend shadow by stroking the lid gently with an eye shadow brush. Don't use your finger, you could wipe off the shadow entirely.
Step6
Use a cosmetic puff and a little pressed powder to tone down heavy shadow. Shake any excess powder off the puff, then press it gently on your lid.

Eye Shadow to Line the Eyes

Step1
Choose a medium or dark shadow color to line your eyes.
Step2
Use a small, flat, angled brush for the application.
Step3
Stroke the brush over the eye shadow.
Step4
Start at the inside edge of your upper lid. Angle the brush so that the longest tip follows the shorter end as the brush moves across your lash line. Bring the brush to the outer corner of the eye.
Step5
Create a more dramatic line by wetting the brush before stroking it through the shadow. Mist a small amount of water onto the brush, or dab it into a few drops of water and proceed with the line. The shadow may feel wet as you draw your line, but it will dry quickly.

on 8/8/2006 Take your compact and press just a little bit of it to where your eyeshadow. Trust me, it works! It neutralizes it as long as you don't cake it on.

on 8/8/2006 This is so simple, all you need to do is match your skin color. If you have darker skin use a light brown or golden brown, if your skin is lighter use a light pink or something that goes with your skin color.

on 8/8/2006 Get some eye shadow, and if you just mess around and apply different colors you can find what colors you like on your eyes, what goes with your skin tone, etc.

on 8/2/2006 Put darker eyeshadow on the inner eyelid and take it out half way. Then use a lighter shade from half the lid to the end.

on 7/2/2006 If you don't have any shadow to match the clothes you're wearing, then use silver. Silver goes with almost everything! But make sure that it doesn't look grey, get a nice, glittery silver.
