French toast is an easy yet tasty breakfast. It's also great for using up bread that's on the verge of becoming just a little too old. There are many variations of French toast but the key ingredients are always eggs and bread, obviously. This recipe makes 5 or 6 slices.

on 7/22/2008 Video is ok - but she left out the kind of bread to use.
Challah bread makes the best french toast.

on 3/12/2008 This is the best "How to" to I have seen. Clear, great shots, and simple. Thanks.

on 3/10/2008 The way that my mother taught me to make French Toast was to take a can or carton of Egg Nog to use as the liquid. Dip your thick "stale" bread into the egg nog and cook. She would then dust it with a little cinnamon.
You can get egg nog all year round in a can or use your left over egg nog from the holidays.
This is a delightful change from the traditional way it's cooked. I hope you will try it and enjoy it as much as my famaily does.

on 3/10/2008 I like the video addition! See my own article on making French toast with rye bread. Yep: it's simple, quick, hearty, and it's got both protein and carbohydrates built in. With the "right" toppings, produce as well. Bravo.
