Hi, my name is Stella Metsovas, and today I'm going to help you understand something really important when it comes to converting fresh thyme leaves to ground thyme leaves. Now thyme is a huge herb in the southern Mediterranean because it grows wild everywhere. Oh my gosh, it's so the aroma is incredible. I love walking through the foothills of the southern Mediterranean. I miss being there right now. Anyways we'll create the southern Mediterranean here. So we're going to have the fresh to dry conversion. It's actually quite easy. Now you're going to take six fresh thyme sprigs so six individual stalks of thyme and those six are going to convert to three quarters of a teaspoon of ground thyme. Or one tablespoon of fresh thyme equals about three quarters of a teaspoon of dried thyme. So that tablespoon so the tablespoon of fresh thyme is more equivalent than the three quarters of the dried. Reason being the fresh still has water which means it's going to be more dense in flavor. So make sure when you're using fresh herbs versus dried herbs that you convert them correctly or you might have a dish that's a little overpowering. Keep healthy and enjoy using all these wonderful herbs found in the southern Mediterranean.
