Hi, it's Steve Pelletier here, and today I'm going to talk about five tips to help keep your pet in tip top shape. Keeping your pet in good shape is really really important because it will lead them to have a longer, healthier and happier life. The five things that I recommend are, number one, before you start or change an exercise program, check with your vet. Make sure your dog or cat has no issues that would preclude them from doing proper exercise. Number two, like a human being, start slowly and build up from there. You don't want to just have him out running hard day one because they are very likely to get injured. The third thing I recommend is mix in some high intensity training as part of the exercise regimen. High intensity training will burn a lot of calories and also can lean to a form of runner's high for your pet believe it or not. The fourth thing I recommend is cross train so don't just walk or run your dog all the time, mix in some core work, mix in some balance work, things like that which will help your dog avoid injury and make them stronger throughout their life. And the last thing is make it a daily habit. So don't just work out with your dog every other day or every other week, try to get some kind of exercise in every single day. If your dog is fit and healthy, they will require at least 30 minutes per day of exercise. So make it happen.
