Hi I'm Mary Michele, founder of the StyleFinder ID system. We're here at Moon and Lula in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina and this is business attire suitable for women over 50. Women over 50 face particular challenges when it comes to getting dressed for the office. The first is they're changing coloring. The second is they're changing body type and the third is learning how to dress in a way that is appropriate for their age and does not undermine their credibility. Let's talk about how we can make these concepts work for you. Now the first concept is your personal coloring. As we age, our coloring softens and so we need to wear colors that are more flattering and not harsh. This jacket is a wonderful example. It's a light color that is going to relate more to your hair color and it also has a metallic thread that's going to bring light to the face as well as light in your hair. Now pair that with a light blouse that's going to light you up rather than pulling color from your face is going to help you shine in all the right ways. Now my second tip is dressing for your body type. Women over 50 have changing body types and I want you to take that in to consideration. When you wear something that has a gentle fit yet shows off your shape it's going to be more flattering. You want to avoid anything that's too boxy especially around the waist line because it's going to make you appear visually larger than you are. My third tip is dressing in a way that is age appropriate. You want to put together an outfit that leans more towards timeless rather than trendy. Wearing something that's more trendy, too low cut too tight is going to make you appear more youthful but it's going to work against you and not for you. I want you to think about putting together an outfit that is more classic, more timeless and also camouflages any of what I like to call your considerations. So I want you to put yourself together in a way that makes you shine and when you can walk out the door and feel like a million bucks, you know you've done it right.
