This is David Roe at Blue Dog Ranch, and this is a pet owner's guide to the dog crate. It's important to know that dogs are naturally den animals, so it's very easy to make them love their crate. You want to make sure that they know that everything good happens in the crate. That's where they get their bones and their chewies, that's where you feed them if you want to develop the crate as the coolest place in the world. You do everything good in the crate. And it's actually used as a tool for training. So, if you are the one that controls their access in and out of the crate, then you will be perceived as much more of the leader. If you control his access in and out of his crate, which means you make him wait for permission to come in or out of the crate, then this is called boundary training, and it's very valuable to you as far as having your dog perceive you as the person in charge.
