Hi, my name is Paul Delagnes, cake designer at the Bread Basket Cake Company in Camarillo, and I'm gonna show you how to decorate a giant cupcake with fondant. First of all, you have to have your giant cupcake. Make sure that you make the cupcake the day before so it's nice and cold, so when you work with it you don't have any problems about crumbling or anything like that. We'll get the fondant. I chose red for this time because we're gonna do more of a birthday cake themed cupcake. So you get your fondant, make sure that it's nice and soft so you don't have any problems working with it, and I also did pre-make some stars with a wire on them. So we're gonna put them on the cake so it will be playful and will be more of a birthday cupcake. So, after you get your cupcake as so cold like I mentioned, put some butter cream on the bottom of it, so that way your fondant it sticks to it and you can also mold it and create that cupcake shape that comes on the mold. You roll your fondant, apply it on the cupcake. Make sure that you wait a little bit, and then you just start putting the stars to decorate it. And you can always add a little bit of birthday candles, or anything like that, just to make it more fun and creative. And this is how you do a giant cupcake with fondant.
