Hi, my name is Susan Combs, and today we're going to talk about how to get approved to accept insurance for massage therapy. When it comes to massage therapy, prior to 2014 there were a lot more policies that were contract with massage therapists to cover it. As of 2014, there's been a lot of changes that have occurred and a lot of the insurance carriers were kind of skinny down their coverage. But, if you are a massage therapist and you want to become contracted with the insurance carrier to have you know, your services provided to their patients, then you need to contact those carriers directly. Because what you're going to do is you're going to contact those carriers directly and you're going to engage in a contract with them. So that, with their patients that come to see you, they're going to have negotiated rates so that the employees when they come to see you, they're going to pay a copay. Then, you're going to submit all those charges to the insurance company, preferably your insurance biller and then you're going to get a portion of those fees that the insurance company is going to collect. So, like I said, it's a little bit, you know, the game has changed a little bit, so the best thing to do is to call the carriers that you're looking to be contracted with and they'll walk you through those system.
