Hi, my name is Christina and this is how to teach children "R" sounds. There are many ways to help your child correctly say their "R" sounds. Here are a few tips. There's no one right way to teach your child how to say their "R" sounds. The most important thing is to not work too hard at it. As soon as the child becomes nervous, you stop making progress. One great way to teach them is while you read, pick out words that end with the letter "R" like car, emphasizing the "R", car and then teaching your child to let's not pay attention to how the lips move, let's maybe even force the lips into a smile. To teach your child how to control their tongue, you can have them use their finger or a tongue depressor to feel the space between their bottom teeth and their tongue while their tongue is pressed all the way to the bottom of their mouth. This is a tongue's part in saying the letter "R". For some children it helps to have them smile while they are doing this or to have them keep their face completely straight while they are doing this until they gain control over saying the letter "R" with just their tongue. This will help them say words like car correctly. Often picking words that have the letter "R" at the end are the easiest to start with. Thanks for watching.
