Hi, my name is Luke and this is how to tell what kind of CD drive you have. In general it may be difficult to determine what type of disc drive you have. There is DVD, CD, Plus Minus, RW, and this can be very confusing. One way to tell what type of drive is in your machine is by first clicking on the start bar. Then click on Computer or My Computer. Here you'll see Devices with Removable Storage. This is where any and all disc drives you may have will be listed. Their title or name should be apparent right from the label. Mine is a DVD RW, meaning Read Write. For more detailed information you can right click and go down to properties. Then at the Hardware tab at the top you can see the different drives listed. Highlight the drive you want and then hit Properties. This will give you even more detailed information. And that's it.
