Hi, I'm John Eason, principle of John Douglas Eason Interiors, and I'm going to be talking with you about how to display books without a bookcase. Despite the digital revolution, books are still an important part of most people's lives, and a need, for proper place in the home. Fortunately, books can add a lot to a room's décor, providing warmth and interest. I maintain a small stack or two of my favorite tomes on a low table or ottoman. I've also taken this idea a step further and used a stack of books, next to a chair or a sofa, to function as an end table. Of course, this requires larger books, but it's also a great way to fit in those very large books that are otherwise difficult to find room for. I think most living rooms aren't complete without a tasteful collection of a few books arranged centrally on a narrow cocktail table with a few artfully arranged accessories placed on top. Important, historical, our beautifully bound books, also become sophisticated accessories on a fireplace mantel, or on a side table. For those who are truly overwhelmed by books, putting them front and center in sculptural stack columns is a daring option that works well in casual, modern interior. This is John Eason, and I hope that this has helped you to find different ways to display books without a bookcase.
