Hi, my name is Matthew Pizzi, and I'm going to show you how you can delete pen points inside of Photoshop. Paths are an important part of making selections inside of Photoshop and because of that it's important to understand how to modify them. So let's go ahead and take a look at how we can remove points on a path. In this example, I have some type outlined as paths. What I want to do is quickly show you how you can remove individual points within these paths. The first thing that you need to do is you need to select the path. If you don't have the path selected, you can choose the path selection tool which is this black arrow down here towards the bottom. Simply click and drag the marquise around the type. Once you do that you will see all the different points within the type. To delete a particular point, you have a couple options. The first option is to simply choose the pen tool and with the pen tool if you hover over a point, you will see a little minus sign next to the icon and if you click the point will be removed. I will go ahead and undo that, command Z or control Z. You will also notice underneath the pen tool is the delete anchor point tool. You can go ahead and select that tool and that will remove any point that you click on. Finally, the last option is to use the direct selection tool. The direct selection tool is located underneath the path selection tool. With the direct selection tool highlighted, if you click somewhere away from the type, you'll deselect all of the points. At that point you can click on an individual area within the type to activate one anchor point, you'll notice that point is dark, the rest are light. If you press the delete key on your keyboard, you will remove that point.
