Hi. My name is chef Syd Marshal and this is how to make a Chinese sticky rice wrapped in palm leaf. palm leafs are used in Asian cooking for steaming and roasting as a way to keep moisture in and infusing a light flavor. We're going to start by taking our palm leaf and blanching it in some hot water to make it more pliable. We'll remove it and then we'll pat it dry. We'll lay it out on our cutting board and cut it to the approximate size we want. In the center we're going to lay our some of our sticky rice, top it with a little bit of roast chicken and then we'll slowly fold our palm leaf across the rice encasing the chicken and forming a little pocket. Then we'll transfer it to our steamer basket putting the fold side down so it doesn't open during the cooking process. We'll steam it for about 10 to 15 minutes. We'll let it sit for a couple of minutes to cool then you could unwrap it and it's ready to serve. And there you have it. How to make Chinese sticky rice wrapped in palm leaf.
