Hi, I'm Michael Maidaa, and this is "what is the enzyme that controls copying of DNA?" There are several different enzymes that are directly related to the copying of DNA, and all must be present for DNA replication to occur. I'll be listing the main ones and their primary function. So, we have DNA polymerase three, and this one is most directly responsible for DNA synthesis. We also have primase, which is another important enzyme 'cause it's responsible for laying down the primers so that the copying could take place, in the first place. We also have DNA polymerase one, and this is responsible for removing the primers after they've been used. Finally, we have ligase. Ligase is responsible for filling in the gaps. We need to remember that there are several other enzymes involved in the entire process of DNA replication. These are some of the main ones that are involved in the copying of DNA. To recap, we have two DNA polymerases, DNA polymerase three and one, which have different functions. Also, we have primase and ligase. Together, they're all involved in DNA replication.
