Hi, my name is Christina, and this is "what is the point of sleep training a newborn?" Well, the sleep habits of newborns can be very frustrating and unpredictable at times. Sleep training for newborns isn't really the way to go. While every family has a different parenting philosophy, sleep training a brand new baby can really undermine the whole process of connecting and nurturing your newborn. After the two or three month mark, if your baby isn't sleeping up to five or six hours at a time at night, it might be time to consider looking at your options in sleep training in a gentle way. But, a brand new baby needs to know that they can count on you. Their needs are pretty immediate. They're immediately hungry, they're immediately dirty, and it's important that they know that there's someone there to meet their needs and that person is you, the most important person in their life is there to comfort them. As their mother and father, you are their comfort. It's vitally important in those first few months as their brains are developing and they're starting to understand the world around them, that you are there to meet their needs. Thanks for watching!
