Hi I'm Jaclyn Peresetsky and today we're going to discuss if you have brown hair and fair skin, what color of highlights should you choose. Highlighting your hair is very difficult if you have brown hair because often times we go too blonde and then we end up looking washed out. Well when you have a gorgeous brown hair such as our model, Vidella, it's important to not go more than two to three shades lighter and also the most important factor, what undertone should your highlight have? For example there is golden which is for a warm complexion, and there is actually asher tones which means for a cooler complexion. So Vidella has a cooler hair color, so we want to make sure she not only goes two to three shades lighter, and not any brighter, and also we want to stay with ashy tones. So when having a brown neutral hair color, you want to make sure you only go two to three shades lighter and you want to concentrate that you have what undertone, is it going to be cool, it it going to be warm, is it going to be neutral? Our model, Vidella, has a neutral cool hair coloring so she wants to stay in more of an ash family. She can go a little bit into the richer tones such as chocolate but again we're talking highlights so it's very important that she just goes two to three shades lighter but we don't want to pull her hair too gold because then that's warm. So when you are talking to your hairstylist, you make sure that they understand too what your natural coloring is. You don't want to go stripey or bold when you have fair skin especially because you want to enhance the fair skin and also you don't want to go in opposition of what your natural hair coloring is.
