Hi, my name is Luke and this is cannot delete fake IE icon on the desktop. Internet Explorer icons or IE icons can come up when you create a shortcut to your desktop. It's very likely that you just created a shortcut on your desktop and you might want to first start by trying to delete it. Navigate to where the potentially fake IE icon is. Right click on it and then hit delete. If you can't delete the icon or if it returns when you reload your computer you may be infected with a virus or a piece of malware. To detect this Microsoft recommends using Microsoft Security Essentials. This is a free tool available to a genuine and valid copy of Windows. It's also available for Windows 8. Download and install and scan this for your computer to detect if you have any viruses that might be causing this fake IE icon. If the problem still persists even if the virus detection comes up with no results you may need to take your computer to a qualified computer technician for virus removable or to potentially reformat. And that's it.
