Hi, I'm John Eason, principal of John Douglas Eason Interiors, an interior design firm based in New York City and I'm going to be speaking with you about how to decorate a room and keep it light and airy. The first thing we want to do is work with lighter color tones. Here in the Flakes Warm Showroom, this very sleek vignette exudes a light and airy feeling by keeping to pale tones of salmon, cloud gray and pine green. By keeping the bulk of the furnishings in colors that are tonal or in a more monochromatic palette, this allows us to easily add a pop of color to give the room a little life or perhaps even a dark cocktail table with some darker accents in the room. In the event that all of that light and airy is well, too light and airy for you. Even a deeper tone chair or a rug can be lightened by tossing on a light color pillow, always nice to add a darker counterpoint to ground the room. This is John Eason and I hope you'll find these to be useful ways to decorate a room to keep it light and airy.
