Hi, I'm John Eason, principal of John Douglas Eason Interiors, an interior design firm based in New York City and I'll be talking with you about how to decorate with two different sofas. One of the most important functions of a well designed room is to facilitate conversation, whether it's for formal guests, friends or family, having sufficient and well placed seating is essential. If a room is big enough, one of the easiest ways to accomplish this is with two sofas facing each other. Placed this way, these two sofas have formed an open and flexible seating arrangement. When placed facing each other, two sofas create a much more formal and intimate space. Add a cocktail table or a low ottoman in between and even chairs on either end to add functionality and flexibility. Here in the Flexform New York Showroom, there are many examples of straight sofas sharing space with an L-shaped sofa. Such a layout can also work brilliantly given a room of ample scale. This is John Eason, and I hope that I've given you some useful ideas when you are ready to decorate a room using two different sofas.
