Hi, I'm Chef Jamel Boyd, and today we're going to be making a maple and brown sugar ham. The sweetness from the maple and the brown sugar will create a great taste sensation on your palate. So the next thing that we're going to do is we're going to make some incisions, some scores along the ham and this just helps the flavor get down inside the ham itself. So just a couple scores around it, any way you like. The next thing that we'll do is we'll pour our maple syrup on it, start from the top and just let it kind of like go down the sides in a spiral fashion. Then, we'll just take our brown sugar and we'll just sprinkle it on. It kind of went everywhere. Don't be afraid to like kind of paste it on there and I like to like kind of smooth it around on the ham until like all the brown sugar is dissolved in the syrup. So now when you touch the ham after the glazes and brown sugar is on there, it should feel a little bit abrasive just from the granules of the brown sugar. Okay so now after we glaze it, we'll put it in about a 350 degree oven. Okay we'll let that cook for 35 to 40 minutes. After we pull it out the oven, we'll take it to the table okay, we'll put it on a nice platter and then we'll pour the remaining glaze from the pan on top of the ham to give it a nice sheen factor. Hi I'm Chef Jamel Boyd and that's how you prepare a maple and brown sugar ham.
