My name is Ryan Wagner, and I'm going to show you how to make roasted asparagus with sliced almonds and Parmesan. This is a great dish to make when you don't have a lot of time to cook but you want something flavorful. So, let's get into the first steps. Here we have the asparagus, whole rods, it comes from the grocery store. The second one here, I've trimmed. All I did was pop the asparagus where it wanted to break naturally, it's where the fibrous end meets the tender part. And, then, for the third one here, all I've done is blanch it. I've cooked it in some boiling water for about 15 seconds, just to make it bright green. By cooking it and then putting it right into ice water, it does that. So, my next step is going to be to put this with some oil, some salt and pepper and I'm just going to mix it all together in a pan. It goes into a 500 degree oven for about ten minutes until it's nice and tender. And now, when it comes out of the oven, all we're going to do is take it on to the plate here, carefully, grate a little Parmesan on top and sprinkle some nice toasted, sliced almonds and this is ready to go.
