Hello, everyone. I'm Joshua Clement, and this is how to firetape drywall. When you firetape drywall it's going to go on basically the same as any other mesh tape that you are putting on drywall. The only benefit is this is going to slow down the fire from spreading to another room. For this job I'm going to be using a trowel and some fire retardant drywall tape. The first thing we want to do is make sure that there's no dust on our seam. If there's dust up there, it's going to keep the tape from sticking to the drywall before you can get your mud up there. So we're going to take our tape, stretch it out a little bit, put it on the wall, making sure that it's halfway in between our two seams. Then we're going to take our trowel, press down on it, pull it across our seam and run it across there. This is going to help stick it to the drywall. Take it all the way to the end of our run. Now at the end of the run, we're going to take our knife, press it up against the drywall and tear the tape. And you're ready to go ahead and take your mud and start mudding it. Now you want to make sure that you hit every seam with this tape otherwise it's not really going to do you any good. Thank you all for watching and good luck on this project.
