To produce custom business cards yourself, rely on pre-cut card stock such as the Avery company's 8371 product, already set up to produce standard 3.5-inch by 2-inch business cards. To design your cards, you can use Microsoft Publisher desktop publishing program, which offers card templates already sized to work with the Avery 8371 card stock.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Publisher and click the "Business Cards" option under the "Most Popular" section of the "Available Templates" pane.

Step 2

Scroll through the different business card templates available in Publisher and double-click one to open it in the Publisher workspace.

Step 3

Click into the placeholder name box on the business card. Type your name on the line directly over the placeholder words.

Step 4

Repeat typing over the text boxes for your title, company name, address, phone numbers, email and other contact information.

Step 5

Click once on the placeholder logo on the card and press the "Delete" button on the keyboard. Click the "Insert" tab at the top of the screen. Click the "Picture" button below the tab and browse to a digital logo. Double-click your logo to add it to the card.

Step 6

Click the "Page Design" tab at the top of the screen. Hover over the different color groups in the "Schemes" section and watch how the card changes. Click a color family to commit the color change to the card.

Step 7

Put the Avery 8371 card stock into the printer and turn it on. Click the "File" tab at the top of the screen. Click "Print." Publisher has automatically set up to print the cards on the Avery sheet, which has room for 10 cards; two columns of five each. The dimensions of the Avery 8371 card stock are the default print settings for printing business cards.

Step 8

Nudge the "Copies of print job" button up to the number of sheets of card stock that you want to print and click the "Print" button to print your cards.
