Hi. My name is Eylene Pirez, and I'm an astrophysicist. And this is, "Does Mars have a lithosphere and an atmosphere?" So a lithosphere is the outer most layer of an object and it generally defines the mirrorality of the planet. Now we generally study the response of tectonic movement and we can tell how rigid and how thick is the lithosphere. Now, the lithosphere of Mars is actually thicker that that of earth's. And it is 60 kilometers thick. So this thickness is 60 kilometers. Now, let's talk about the atmosphere. Yes, it does have an atmosphere and it's mostly carbon dioxide with a little bit of methane. Now the atmosphere of Mars is very thin. And this has to do with Mars being about half the size of the earth. So it doesn't have enough gravity to have a really rich atmosphere. So due to a small mass the atmosphere actually really thin. But yes, it does have lithosphere and it also has an atmosphere. My name is Eylene Pirez and I'm astrophysicist. And this is, "Does Mars have a lithosphere and an atmosphere?"
